Portamet Loft steel doors producer

Loft steel doors – what is the price, how to order, what is the lead time, etc. – the most frequently asked questions regarding loft-style doors and glass partitioning walls. Provided below is a list of questions that are usually asked prior to submitting orders for loft-style doors.

1. What is the price of steel doors?

How much do steel doors cost ? We hear this question very often from our customers. Although the answer is very easy for standard doors from the “Portamet standard” product line, with their prices available on the website https://www.portamet.com/loft-doors the price calculation for tailored loft-style doors manufactured under specified orders is a bit more difficult. Every price estimation for glass doors to fit a non-standard doorway is carried out under individual terms, taking into account such factors as the size of glass panels, manufacturing options, working time of welders and grinders, colour, glass type, lead time, and installation site. Only after all these factors are known, can we embark on price estimation.

2. Do metal-framed doors have to be black?

Black, or more specifically RAL 9005, is the most popular colour, and steel frames for steel doors and partitioning walls in that colour are ordered most frequently. But in no way does it mean that we can frame our products only in black or white. Our products are powder-coated and we can use any colour from the RAL palette (with no limitation). If you wish to get a quotation for products in a different colour than black or white, simply put it in your request for quotation and we will confirm its availability and paint your products as you desire.

3. How to measure a doorway opening for steel doors

It is not as easy and obvious as it may seem due to the fact that construction/renovation crews do not always finish doorway openings with such diligence as they should, and these doorways may be skewed or deformed in some way. We often work with doorways in shapes that are far from rectangles or squares, and are actually rather trapezoidal or diamond-shaped – because their corners are not right angles. To make sure that the dimensions to be sent to the manufacturer are correct, each doorway or other opening must be measured at least at six locations, where the opening width must be measured at the bottom, mid-height and the top, whilst the height must be taken at the left-hand side, right-hand side and in the mid-width. It is also advisable to measure the opening diagonals, if possible, but it is not mandatory. Only when these six dimensions are taken correctly, are we able to remotely design and construct the aperture wall that will match the opening without any problems.

4. What do we need to prepare a price estimation for you?

To enable a correct and accurate price estimation, please provide us with at least the following details to be sent to the address info@portamet.com : dimensions of the doorway where the door is to be installed, an architectural design drawing if there is one, otherwise – a hand-drawn manual sketch is required, the type of glass panels (multiply and glued, quenched, milky or frosted glass, fluted panels, etc.), as well as the colour for door frames or steel furniture frames.

5. When to install loft-type steel doors?

Installation of loft-type doors or partitioning walls should be scheduled to the last step of construction. When all the flooring is ready, the walls are smoothed and finished with wallpapers, it is time for installing loft-type doors and apertures.

6. Is installation of loft steel doors difficult?

In contrast to conventional doorway woodwork, installation of loft-type doors is very easy and some basic tools are enough to cope with the job. Most of our customers install typical doors from the “Portamet Standard” product line on their own. The door frames of our products are provided with boreholes for installation and these frames can be fixed directly to a wall using rawlplugs. After the door frame is fixed, the relevant glass panel is suspended on hinges.

7. Where can PORTAMET projects be seen on display?

Portamet is a manufacturer of loft-style doors and partitioning walls with its business history dating back many years. We have already completed several thousand projects both in Poland and in most countries of the European Union. Some of our projects was commissioned by leading business customers, such as H&M, IKEA, BEL- POL, VOX and many others. Our products from the “Portamet Standard” line are available at the chain of BEL-POL showrooms in all major cities in Poland. At the showrooms of that chain the potential customers can see and order standard or customised products. Contact us to know wher to find PORTAMET closest to your address.

8. Does the price include the project design?

Yes, the project designs for our solutions are being developed free of charge, but only after the price estimation is accepted and a down payment for the production is made. After the down payment is credited to our account we will send you the completed design drawings for the production to get your final approval or remarks for improvements.

9. How are loft steel doors delivered to our customers?

Since our products are dispatched to sites located anywhere in Poland or Europe, we can never afford even the slightest damage taking place during the transport. All our goods are properly secured and marked before dispatching, so that our customers receive products in perfect condition. We have delivery contracts with only well-proven and known carriers, and each parcel is properly insured.

10. What is the lead time for orders?

Actually, the lead time depends on many factors (see item 2) but we always do our best to complete the customers’ orders as soon as possible. Non-standard orders are manufactured according to individual production schemes and full automation of such production is not feasible. Our customers should be aware of the fact that the lead time from order confirmation to its completion may take from 4 up to over a dozen weeks, depending on the order’s scope and the degree of complexity.

11. If I place my order today, will you start the production tomorrow?

If you order a loft-style door today you will get a proforma invoice for a down payment. After the invoice is paid you will receive production design drawings for your approval. The manufacturing process will start when the drawings are accepted by the customer.

12. Are you an original manufacturer of loft-style doors or only an intermediate agent?

We are an original manufacturer of both standardised and custom-designed loft-style doors. Our manufacturing plant is located in Gdańsk. Since we have our own production back facilities, qualified welders and various machining equipment, anything is possible for us and we are able to make even the most difficult steel frames with glass panels.

13. Do you also manufacture sliding glass-steel  doors?

Our offer includes both conventional doors suspended on hinges, sliding doors on carriages, as well as foldable loft-style doors. Since we are an original manufacturer of loft-style doors we are flexible and can complete various projects according to the individual needs of customers.

14. What types of loft steel  doors do you offer?

We kindly encourage you to visit our inspirations zone https://www.portamet.com/standardloftdoors where you can find various solutions for glass separation apertures and loft walls.

15. Do I have to pay for price calculation for loft-style doors?

Every price calculation drawn up by us is free of charge.
